How Dual-Ended Reader Sunglasses Work, and How to Choose Your Reader Strength
Sunglasses at one end. Readers at the other. Rotate the frame to switch.
That’s the idea behind 101 Glasses. Instead of carrying separate sunglasses and reading glasses, you keep both together in one dual-ended frame. When you need to check your phone, read a menu, or take a closer look at fishing tackle, rotate from the sunglass end to the reader end.
How do dual-ended reader sunglasses work?
Each frame has a pair of sunglass lenses at one end and clear reading lenses at the opposite end. You wear whichever end you need, then rotate the frame when you want to switch.
When you’re not using them, the glasses hang around your neck, keeping both ends within reach. The frames feature Hingeless Technology, and every pair includes a free temple accessory that lets you wear either end as a single pair of glasses.
Are dual-ended reader sunglasses the same as bifocals?
No. Bifocals combine different viewing areas within each lens. With 101 Glasses, the sunglass lenses and reading lenses are separate, positioned at opposite ends of the frame.
You don’t look through a reading section at the bottom of the sunglass lens. Instead, you rotate the frame to use the clear reader end. That distinction is what makes the dual-ended design different.
When would you use them?
Think about the moments when you reach for readers while you’re outdoors: checking a message, reading a lunch menu, looking at a map, or working with small details in your tackle box.
101 Glasses keep both pairs together for those transitions. Use the sunglass end, rotate to the reader end for your close-up task, then rotate back when you’re finished.
Which reader strengths are available?
101 Glasses offers three reader strengths: 1.5x, 2.0x, and 2.5x.
If you already use readers that work well for you, check the strength marked on them as a starting point. Choose for the task and distance at which you normally read, rather than assuming the strongest option is the best choice.
If you’re unsure which strength you need, or your current readers no longer give you comfortable clarity, ask an eye-care professional for guidance. Ready-made readers aren’t a substitute for an eye examination or an individual prescription.
Can you wear just the readers or just the sunglasses?
Yes. The included temple accessory lets you wear either end as a single pair of glasses. You can keep the dual-ended setup or use the accessory when you prefer a single pair.
Choose your color and reader strength
101 Glasses comes in five frame colors: Hammerhead Black, Great White, Redfish Red, Gator Green, and Marlin Blue.
